everyone is worthy.

Not because of what we have accomplished, what we believe, where we live, what we have—or what we have overcome.

Every person has a name. Every person has a story. And every person is worthy of being known, loved and belonging.

That simple conviction is behind THEWORTHY.ONE.

Hi, I’m Josh.

Much of my life and work puts me alongside people whose lives don't always look like mine.

I serve as the Twin Cities Director for Good in the ’Hood, a nonprofit bringing help and inspiring hope through food, footwear, foot care—and, perhaps most importantly, relationships.

But THEWORTHY.ONE isn't really about my work.

It's about the people I have the privilege of knowing.

People living with and without homes. People in recovery and people still caught in addiction. People with plenty and people struggling to make it through the week. Business leaders, pastors, volunteers, neighbors and friends.

I've found that the lines we draw between people often become less important once we actually know one another.

People are not problems to solve.

It's easy to encounter people as statistics.

The homeless.
The addicted.
The poor.
The successful.
The generous.
The broken.

But a person is never a category.

Behind every label is someone with a name, a history, hopes, failures, relationships, gifts, regrets and a story still being written.

THEWORTHY.ONE is an attempt to slow down long enough to see that.

You'll find stories here about friendship and service across divides. Some are stories of hardship. Others are stories of hope, recovery, generosity, faith or unexpected friendship.

Often they're simply stories about people worth knowing.

Because everyone is worthy.

Stories are sacred.

Many of the people you'll meet here have trusted me with vulnerable parts of their lives.

I want to honor that trust.

At times, names, photographs or identifying details may be changed or withheld to protect someone's dignity and privacy.

And I never want someone's hardship to become content for someone else's consumption.

The person serving isn't the hero.

The person being served isn't the project.

We're people meeting people—and sometimes discovering that we need each other far more than we realized.

Faith is part of my story.

My faith in Jesus shapes how I see people and how I try to live.

I believe every person has extraordinary worth because every person is made and loved by God. And I believe Jesus continually calls us beyond ourselves—toward God and toward one another.

I won't hide that part of who I am here.

But you don't need to share my beliefs to belong at THEWORTHY.ONE.

At the neighbor whose life seems nothing like ours.

At the person we've reduced to a label.

At the people we disagree with.

And maybe even at ourselves.

Listen longer.

Cross divides.

Learn someone's name.

Share a meal.

Serve.

Be served.

Become friends.

There are no ordinary people.

Everyone is worthy.
